salentein pinot noir reserve 2009

aside from a good malbec, this 2009 pinot noir is at the top of my list of reds.

i’m still working on my wine descriptors and processes but… “fruty aromas like cherries, strawberries and raspberries, notes of vanilla, 10-12 months in french oak barrels, 6 month in-bottle stowage.”

a bottle of this beauty welcomed my parents and i to posada salentein, a wonderful guest house tucked among the vines in the valle de uco, tunuyán, mendoza, argentina. such wonderful memories – salentien treated us like kings and queens. a horseback ride saturday afternoon, a 4 course wine-paired meal on saturday night, a wonderful breakfast sunday morning, and a tour of the winery sunday afternoon. i highly recommend taking the time to venture out of the city of mendoza to witness this hidden gem.
